FSBDC at UWF Offers "Franchise Basics Series"

Description

The FL Small Business Development Center at UWF is holding its “Franchise Basics Series” of workshops on March 14, 16 and 18 from 9:00 a.m. – Noon.  The workshop series consists of information about franchising.  The workshop titles are “Which Franchise is Right for You?” on March 14^th; “How to Evaluate a Franchise” on March 16^th; and “Is Franchising Right for You?” on March 18^th.   You may choose to take one or two workshops in the series for $25 each, or sign up for all three for $60 (a savings of $15 for the entire series).  See descriptions for each workshop below.  Location: FSBDC, 9999 University Pkwy.  Pre-registration is strongly recommended as seating is limited.  To register, call 850-474-2528 or go to our website (www.sbdc.uwf.edu) and click on “Training Opportunities”.
 
Which Franchise is Right for You?
Buying a franchise involves thorough investigation, planning and analysis of your options.  Ask yourself important questions such as what the business is, who is the franchiser, what is the franchise package and be sure to research the disclosure document.  Determine if you are qualified physically, financially and by experience, education, and learning capacity. How to Evaluate a Franchise
In order to evaluate a franchise, you must determine your interests and expertise, gather information from the UFOC, meet with current franchises, visit their headquarters, and more.  Also, obtain financial statements and review all contracts for the franchise before signing.  Find out how to check the market research done by the franchiser before they offered the new outlet. Fee: $25
 
Is Franchising Right for You?
If purchasing an existing business or starting from scratch seems too daunting, then franchise ownership may be right for you.  Before taking the plunge, learn how to prepare a cash-flow projection yourself or with help, how long it will take to turn a profit and the amount of salary you may realistically be able to pay yourself.    Learn the 100 questions to ask before buying a franchise!  Fee: $25
