The Japan-America Society of Northwest Florida and the Consulate-General of Japan in Miami will host the Japan U.S. Military Program (JUMP) on Saturday, October 22 from 1 to 4 p.m. at the National Naval Aviation Museum, located at 1750 Radford Boulevard. The second annual JUMP event in Pensacola is free and open to the public. Parking and admission to the Museum are free. Upon entry, photo IDs and bags will be checked. Advanced registration is required to attend JUMP. JUMP begins at 1 p.m. with a Japanese Taiko drumming performance in the Blue Angels Atrium and is followed by a reception on the USS Cabot flight deck. Welcoming remarks will be given by Captain Mark A. Truluck, USN, Commanding Officer, Naval Aviation School Command, Pensacola, FL. Keynote speakers include Honorable Ken Okaniwa, Consul General of the Consulate-General of Japan in Miami, and Admiral Patrick Walsh, senior fellow and acting director of the Tower Center Program in National Security and Defense at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, TX. JUMP connects past and present service members, families and government civilians who have served in Japan, providing a powerful foundation for sustaining the solid alliance and relationship that exists between the U.S. and Japan. A collaborative effort between Sasakawa Peace Foundation USA, the Embassy of Japan in the United States and the National Association of Japan-America Societies, JUMP was launched in April 2015. Sponsors of JUMP in Pensacola include Sasakawa Peace Foundation USA, the National Association of Japan-America Societies and the Santa Rosa County Economic Development Council. Guests can register to attend JUMP by contacting info@jasnwfl.org or (850) 361-8750. For more information about JUMP, visit http://www.jumprogram.org/.
