Feeding the Gulf Coast President & CEO Michael Ledger Nominated to Serve on Feeding America’s Nation

Mobile, AL (December 1, 2025)–Feeding the Gulf Coast is proud to announce that Michael Ledger, President & CEO, has been nominated to serve on Feeding America’s National Council (NAC)—the elected body representing the collective voice and perspectives of food banks across the Feeding America network.
The National Council plays a critical role in shaping the direction of the nation’s largest hunger-relief organization. Composed of elected representatives from food banks nationwide and appointed Feeding America National Organization (FANO) staff, the NAC ensures decisions reflect the diversity of its members and the communities they serve. Nineteen Network Representatives currently serve on the NAC, including 14 food bank executives, one Partner State Association executive, one Affiliate Food Bank executive, and three senior FANO staff members.
“We are honored that Michael has been nominated to serve in this vital leadership role,” said Chad Brown, Board Chair of Feeding the Gulf Coast. “His commitment to collaboration and strengthening our hunger-relief system will be an asset not only to our region, but to food banks nationwide.”
As part of this leadership body, Ledger will help guide decision-making that influences national strategy, donor partnerships, contracts, policies, systems, operating models, and public policy priorities. The NAC collaborates closely with FANO leadership to ensure feedback from food banks of all sizes and regions, informing nationwide initiatives and long-term planning. Its members serve as engaged partners in Network-wide strategic planning, offering ongoing feedback to strengthen the Feeding America system as a whole.
Ledger’s nomination reflects his long-standing dedication to improving food access across the central Gulf Coast and his active leadership within the food bank community. “I am grateful for the opportunity to serve our Network in this capacity,” said Ledger. “The National Council ensures every food bank has a voice in shaping our shared future. It’s an honor to represent the communities we serve and work alongside leaders committed to ending hunger.”
