DESCRIPTION:The UF/IFAS West Florida Research and Education Center and county extension agents will host the Extension Farm Field Day on Aug. 20. The goal is to help growers understand some of the positive impacts\, as well as the challenges of modifying agricultural practices to make row crop production more diverse and efficient. Benefits and limitations of current production practices and agricultural technologies that might be used in the near future in the Panhandle will be discussed.\n\n  Field day topics include Early and Late Cotton Varieties and Insect Management\, Peanut Disease Identification and Fungicide Programs\, Soybean Varieties and Insect Control Options (What to do About Kudzu Bug)\, The Importance of Herbicide Tolerance in Row Crops for Yield and Weed Control\, Production and Environmental Considerations for Growing Biofuel Crops as Part of the Panhandle's Cropping Systems\, New and Emerging Peanut Varieties\, and Management of Foliar diseases in Cotton.\n\nRegistration and check-in will begin at 8 a.m. with the event beginning at 8:30 a.m. and ending at noon with a catered lunch. The field day will be held at the UF/IFAS West Florida Research and Education Center located at 4253 Experiment Road\, Jay. This is a one hour afternoon session for CCA and Core CEU credits.
