DESCRIPTION:FIRST CITY ART CENTER WILL HOLD A 3-WEEK STAINED GLASS ARTS WORKSHOP WITH STAINED GLASS ARTIST JUDIE BETTS ON SEPT 7th\n\nPENSACOLA\, FLA- Join stained glass artist Judie Betts in the newest workshop to be held at First City Art Center. The three-week workshop will take place in the First City Art Center classroom at 1060 N. Guillemard St. beginning Saturday\, Sept. 7th from 1:00-4:00 pm each day.  The cost is $140 per person.\n  \nThis three-week introductory course will familiarize the student with copper-foil stained glass techniques\, including scoring and breaking glass\, making patterns\, grinding glass\, soldering and finishing.  One additional class to complete the project will be offered at the end of the workshop. Interested students will be able to sign up for more advanced classes as they learn and if they wish to continue.  There is a minimum of 3 students and a maximum of 12 for the workshop. Her friend and her daughter opened their first retail glass store and studio in upstate NY.  Judie did commission work for them and continued in her upholstery business.  She moved to Navarre about 17 years ago and continued creating stained glass pieces in her basement and found a retail job with Glass Act\, in Ft. Walton Beach\, selling her work and teaching stained glass. After 7 years\, due to a down-slide in the economy\, Glass Act closed.
