New Traffic Safety Measures at Johnson Beach Begin April 23
GULF BREEZE, FL. –
Once the parking lot reaches full capacity, no new visitors traveling by vehicle will be admitted into the Perdido Key area/Johnson Beach. Currently oversized vehicles to include RVs and vehicles towing trailers are not permitted due to parking space availability. The current parking lot permits 331 vehicles with an additional 24 handicap spots.
Additionally, vehicles will not be permitted to line up at the parking lot entrance or park off to the side, to wait for a spot to become available. Those in violation of this protocol will be subject to fines for obstruction of traffic. Park Rangers will be present to direct traffic and uphold rules.
The road beyond the main parking lot at Perdido Key remains closed due to storm damage. Visitors can still access the road by walking or biking. Repairs and limited re-opening are expected for early summer of 2021.
Daily, new visitors will be permitted to enter the Johnson Beach area as space in the lot becomes available. Parking lot updates will be on the electronic message board at the park entrance. The current hours for Perdido Key Area/Johnson Beach are 5 a.m. to 8 p.m.
