Gulf Islands National Seashore National Trails Day Walk

In celebration of National Trails Day, join a park ranger for a walk on Saturday, June 1, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. along the Florida National Scenic Trail. The two mile walk goes to Battery Worth then out to the beach on Pensacola Bay and returns to Fort Pickens. The public is invited to participate in this leisurely walk, which will begin at Fort Pickens parking area. Walkers will have opportunities to view native flora and fauna as well as historic remnants of this area's extensive use as a stronghold of America's coastal defenses and enjoy the sunset along the bay. The level of difficulty is easy with some soft sand. Participants should wear comfortable shoes and bring water. The program is free, but there is an $8 entrance fee to the Fort Pickens Area.
