Saenger Theatre; 118 S. Palafox Place
The Annual Music for Families event is back and better than ever.
At 9:30 a.m., the Symphony will open the Saenger doors for children and their families to experience a number of hands on art activities, science of sound demonstrations and the popular Instrument Petting Zoo. Attendees will have opportunities to try the various instruments of the orchestra with the help of Pensacola Symphony musicians. Partners from Blues Angel Music, the Escambia County Supervisor of Elections Office, Gulf Breeze School of Music, Pensacola MESS Hall, Pensacola Symphony Orchestra Guild, University of West Florida Historic Trust and West Florida Public Libraries along with local artist Randy New will come together to create a fun-filled morning.
At 11 a.m., Maestro Peter Rubardt and the PSO musicians will journey through time with a special performance to teach attendees about influential musical figures, including Antonio Stradivari and Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. The orchestra will play works composed by Mozart, Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, Igor Stravinsky and additional fan favorites such as excerpts from John Williams’ “Star Wars” and Disney’s animated classic “Beauty and the Beast.”
Please note: the Palafox Street lobby doors will be the main entrance for this event. Please use these doors for both entrance and exit to the theatre for the Music for Families Concert.
