Jay Hospital Nurse Honored with DAISY Award™

PENSACOLA, Fla. (April 9, 2024) – Karrie Nevels, R.N., has been honored with the DAISY Award for Extraordinary Nurses. Nevels works in the Medical Unit at Jay Hospital.
Nevels was recognized by a patient’s family for the extraordinary care she provided. “Karrie took time to know who her patient was as a person,” the nomination read. “He was more than just a job. He was never an inconvenience to her. He was her reason for being there, or at least it seemed like that to our family members. She showed true empathy and compassion.”
The DAISY Award is part of a national merit-based recognition program established by the DAISY Foundation. It celebrates the education, training and skills nurses put into their work daily and, especially, the devoted care they give their patients. Nominations can be submitted by patients, families, physicians and colleagues. Names from nominations are removed to be anonymous before being reviewed by a selection committee. One nurse is then chosen as the DAISY Award winner. DAISY Awards are presented regularly, usually monthly or quarterly.
