Santa Rosa County – Santa Rosa Superintendent of Schools Dr. Karen Barber, Santa Rosa School Board Members, and members of the Santa Rosa Education Foundation announced Dayna Hood as the Santa Rosa Teacher of the Year 2027 during a surprise visit this morning. Dayna is an English Language Arts teacher at Milton High School and in her 6th year of teaching. 
 
Dayna is Santa Rosa’s nominee for the Florida Department of Education Teacher of the Year 2027. The Florida Teacher of the Year will be selected in May and serve as Florida’s nominee for National Teacher of the Year to be announced in January 2027. Dayna Hood, Teacher of the Year nominees, and all Santa Rosa educators will be honored at Santa Rosa’s Golden Apple Celebration on March 29th, 2026, at The Saenger Theatre.
